Totton College is hosting an evening dedicated to Apprenticeships & Careers on 6th March 2024, 5:00pm-7:30pm. Parents will be able to visit the campus, finding information on what options their children have available to them moving forward in their education after completing their GCSEs.

During the evening, parents and students of Year 9, 10 and 11 students in the New Forest and Eastleigh area can find out what would be involved in taking on an apprenticeship that could kickstart their career. There will be about 30 different industries represented at this event including NHS 350+, New Forest District Council, Waterside Laboratories, Armed Services, Berthon – a full range of opportunities. Representatives will be available to chat to throughout the evening to explore this diverse range of industries.

Apprenticeships provide direct experience for students, giving them a head start into the workplace. This experience is valuable for establishing connections early on in their career and developing the confidence to pursue a career in the sectors we provide apprenticeships for. These include high in demand industry skills such as Digital Marketing, Childcare, Hair and Beauty qualifications, and more, with a full library of courses available here.

Attendees will have the chance to talk with our very own Digital Marketing apprentice, Ryan Price, who will be able to speak on his experience with the programme and what benefits he’s had as an apprentice.

When asked about his experience, Ryan said: “As a Digital Marketing apprentice, I’ve been able to develop skills at work that will help me develop my CV and also my marketing career.”

Curriculum Manager for Apprenticeships, Sarah Woodhall, notes “Not all students want to consider college or university, so an apprenticeship is an opportunity to gain their qualification while also gaining experience. These industry-recognised qualifications cover the skills and knowledge needed for business and offer excellent progression routes for career development.”
